Failure happens in life, especially in academia. This doesn't mean you’re a failure or it dictates your future. You still have all the strength & capability to grow & come out stronger💯
✅Here are some ways to cope with academic failure:
1. Embrace your emotions
-Allow yourself to process your emotions by identifying and labeling the emotions you feel.
-You can vent or find comfort to your loved ones who are available.
-Allow yourself to feel, then release and let go as if you are letting it flow down the river.
2. Be kind to yourself
-Give yourself the same compassion you would often give to others when going through failure
-Be loving and understanding towards yourself.
-Surround yourself with things you find comfort.
-Accept that you're human and the reality that things don't often go the way we want to.
3. Reflect & Problem Solve
-Take the time to process what and how it happened
-Know what you can learn and take from this experience to be able to move forward
-Identify the factors that affected the failure.
-See what were the factors you could have managed and what were the ones that were beyond your control.
4. Step back and explore
-Take the time to explore other things that are outside academia
-Try to do hobbies or activities outside your field. Seek other inspiration!
-By exploring other things, you allow yourself to remember that there is more to life than academia!🫶🏻
5. Understand that failure is part of life💯
-Academic failure is one of the things that shows that life is sometimes unfair.
-Even with our best efforts especially when we know we deserve more, failure sometimes inevitably happens
-Embrace failure, because most of the time we grow not from success, but from failures.
