One of the unexpected parts of having a baby is managing all of their outgrown clothes! It's amazing just how fast little ones outgrow each size, and that can quickly leave you buried in tons of clothes you're not sure what to do with.

The simplest system I've found is to put a larger open basket or bin in baby's room somewhere, I like to keep it on a closet shelf so it's up out of the way but still easy enough to get to. Whenever you come across a piece of clothing that no longer fits your child, immediately toss it into this basket. This gives you one place to collect clothes that's out of the way, and keeps your closet and dresser drawers from being full of clothes your child can't even wear.

Once the basket fills up, devote a little time to sorting through it and packing up all those clothes. You'll need to decide what you're going to do with outgrown clothes first--I pack them up and pass along to younger nieces and nephews. You might want to pack them up and put in storage for future use in your own family. Or you might decide to sell or donate them.

For my purpose of storing them and passing along to others, I've found it best to use large storage totes. Once one fills up, I give it away. Inside each tote, I organize clothing inside vacuum seal bags (from Dollar Tree). You can push all of the extra air out of the bags which really condenses things and allows you to fit quite a bit more clothing inside your tote. I label each bag with the clothing size inside.
