Prom Designer 🛍✨

I have been sewing for over 10 years now. And I had never made a prom gown. I've made something close to elegant gowns, and I've also made something close to a wedding dress. But this year, a may, 2024, I finally got the chance to make my very first prom down for my best friend's niece. I made her prom dress a long with her prom date it was hard for him to find a jacket or vest that would match or be similar to the original dress. The young lady told me she wanted to look like Princess Tiana. So, I'm going through a couple of ideas. I created a sketch, and she gave me her input on what she wanted, and thank goodness she loved it. That does not go without any trials or tribulations. Unfortunately, we do not live close. I had to create the gown and the jacket where I was with the measurements that I was giving or that I took, and I was going to tweak any small things by the time I got back home.

Thank goodness for old friends and loved ones. Because although I had the dress basically completed. I still had to edit the vest with the young man on the date of prom. So thank goodness for old friends. That helped me when I really needed it and for my old job to allow me to come in and use the alterations area and the alternation's workers to help me make a prom dress.

Here is my personal opinion. I choose not to make Palm gowns every year. I focus on either one person or just family. Working at a bridal shop that also sold prom gear. I know exactly how this is. Every single year and personally. I don't want to do it that in my personal space. It can be annoying, and one thing I learned is that not everyone has a backbone, and not everyone will speak up to make their own choices. I recognize dealing with the hassle of relatives or a mom's that think that they know best from what their daughter actually wants. I'm not saying I wouldn't compromise with the parent. I just know that prom season can bring the worst out of people along with people's true intentions and personalities. And all of the prom horror stories that I've seen in all of the stress. I just rather not put myself through all of those issues.

but to see the happiness was amazing. 🫶🏿💛
