AHA & BHA? what's the difference?

AHA? BHA? what’s that? which one is suitable for my skin? help 😭

don't worry, i got you! this exfoliating-thingy can be quite confusing especially for a skincare beginner, and today i'm gonna explain what's the differences + product recommendation as well!

❣️ Alpha-hydroxy-acid or AHA, is a water soluble chemical exfoliants which can remove dead skin cells.

❣️ Beta-hydroxy-acid or BHA is an oil-soluble exfoliant so this can pass through the skin through sebaceous glands.

for normal to drier skin, AHA would be your best pick while for normal to oilier/acne prone skin, BHA would be your bestie 😆

• The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

glycolic acid is considered an AHA. this will be a great recommendation if you’re looking for a big-sized AHA toner that can last you for a while.

the texture is watery without any fragrance & absorbs fast. you can use cotton pads too if you like :)

a tip: for beginner, you can start from 1-2x a week and slowly increase the frequency after some time.

• Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator

this contains salicylic acid, which is a BHA. i’d say this will last you quite a while too due to the big size. they do have a smaller one though :)

the texture is also watery without any fragrance. you can use cotton pads/use your hands directly and pat it onto ur face!

same as AHA, for beginner do start slowly from 1-2x a week and increase subsequently if you want 😆
