My personal Procreate tips + tricks for editing 🤩

Drawing has always been a hobby of mine and ever since starting my skincare account, I’ve been able to merge two of my favourite things into one space.

I love to chill out by drawing and seeing how my pictures come together with a few additions 🥺

A few people have asked me how I edit my pictures and I thought I’d share about it. I’m still pretty beginner at Procreate (lol I was using Notes up until the start of this year…) but these are some of the ways I edit my pictures.

1️⃣ Making a shadow

If you’ve seen my pictures, a lot of them use a shadow effect to make the words pop out. Just make a copy of the original layer and colour it black. Then arrange it under the first layer.

This is especially effective against white backgrounds if you want to keep your primary font colour to white.

2️⃣ 6B pencil all the way

My favourite brush is 6B pencil — it creates a nice sketchy effect which is close to how I draw and sketch in real life as well.

I was recently looking at getting some new brushes (pencil-like textures) as well so if you have any reccs let me know!!! 🤩

3️⃣ Create duplicate layers to play with placements

I like shifting stuff around but the constant resizing and moving can distort the original, so just make multiple copies of the original.

If you don’t like the new placement, you can just delete it instead of needed to move it around again!

Using the guide lines also helps me to position my elements and space them out according 😙

4️⃣ Use small elements to fill up negative spaces

If you notice, most of my covers have little elements to make it look not as empty.

I think it’s about achieving balance so I try to make both sides look even, but of course adding too much can make it look cluttered.

5️⃣ Add a splash of personality with doodles

I LOVE ADDING RANDOM LITTLE DOODLES into my pictures. You don’t need to be an artist to do this, just pick a style you like and you can start drawing away.

6️⃣ Resize your drawings!

I like doing a bigger version then using the selection tool to shrink it — it makes the lines look cleaner and thinner ☺️

This is really useful if you’re drawing detailed pictures!
