Hello Lemon8 pals! 🍋

I had this idea earlier today as I had cancelled my Burpple Beyond recently after 2 years because I found that it didn’t work for me anymore.

That being said, I was looking at other subscription-based discount apps and was wondering if a comparison would be handy if you were looking into subscribing to one — I also wanted to share a recent app I found and love!

The idea sounds audacious; spending money to save money, but it has worked for me.

After reading up and trying all the apps, these are my thoughts on each of these apps:

1️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫

✍️ 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: The Entertainer used to have some key merchants like Bedrock Bar & Grill and Fat Cow with 1-for-1 that made it worth the price tag. A lot of the big names have dropped out now

Food aside, The Entertainer does offer some 1-for-1 deals and 25% at certain hotels and salons.

💫 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: I will say that I think in terms of noteworthy merchants, The Entertainer has the least despite being the oldest out of the lot.

It features a lot of common merchants like Harry’s and Canadian Pizza that I’m not too keen on.

🤙🏼 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Unlike Burpple Beyond, there are no blackout dates. It still requires 2 people to be present to redeem 1 deal though.

👩🏻 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: The app for The Entertainer is quite clunky and the search function is tedious, there are too many categories to sift through efficiently.

💖 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀: Poke Theory and Wafuken

🏷 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲: $78

💸 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆?

I don’t think The Entertainer is worth the money, even though it has deals from some merchants I enjoy. The amount I pay for the amount of deals I’m actually interested in.

With Fat Cow gone, I’d much rather spend my money on Burpple Beyond as it gives me more variety and a better user experience.

2️⃣ 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝

✍️ 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: I feel like Burpple Beyond is a shadow of its former self.

It doesn’t really have any “anchor” merchants partnered to it whereas before it had merchants like Park Bench Deli, Dopa Dopa Creamery, Creamier — the big names y’know?

It does have a wide range of drink and dessert merchants so if you’re a bubble tea fanatic this might be a good deal.

💫 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: I think Burpple Beyond does have some unique names like Tamoya Udon and Dumpling Darlings that I do genuinely enjoy and will revisit.

🤙🏼 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Not flexible, you can’t use deals on special days like Father’s Day and public holidays.

👩🏻 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Burpple Beyond has been quite easy to use and also pleasant to look at. The filter categories make it quite easy to sift through for food by location and even find newly-opened spots, so points for that.

💖 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀: Tamoya Udon and Dumpling Darlings

🏷 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲: $99 (usually on sale for $69)

💸 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆?

If you eat out a lot and love trying a variety of mid-range spots and newer restaurants, Burpple Beyond may be a good choice for you. It overlaps quite a bit with The Entertainer but does have more unique merchants.

3️⃣ 𝐅𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐢𝐞

✍️ 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: Fuzzie has a lot less merchants than the former two, so it does offer a lot less variety when it comes to eating out.

However, it offers a range of other deals like beauty and wellness, subscriptions, meal plans, and even grocery discounts as it’s meant to be an all encompassing app.

💫 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: What Fuzzie lacks for in quantity, it makes up in quality.

I do like the current range of merchants, with offerings like Matchaya, SBCD Tofu House, Amo (my fave pizza place pspsps) which aren’t available on other apps.

It also does have deals like 12% off ClassPass, 50% HAUS Athletics trial that I do appreciate and use!

🤙🏼 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: It depends, certain deals have certain fine print, but generally more flexible than Burpple Beyond

👩🏻 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: The app for Fuzzie is quite rudimentary, but the search functions are easy to navigate. I do think maybe a map function would be good.

💖 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀: Amo and SBCD Korean

🏷 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲: $99.90

💸 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆?

While it is the priciest, I do use it a lot.

I’ve redeemed discounts for fitness, beauty and wellness, as well as multiple rounds of food. I love Amo and SBCD so I’ve saved a lot from the 30% discount it offers, plus there’s more flexibility if you’re a single person since many deals are percentage based.

If you want to sign up for Fuzzie you can use my code ‘caitlin2715’ for $5 credits!

Hope this review was helpful for you!
