Visit the Dahlia Farms of Canby, Oregon

Since moving the the Pacific Northwest, I have been trying to visit as many festivals as I can in my first year. I visited the tulip festival earlier this season and couldn't pass up on another flower festival just outside of Portland, Oregon.

Unlike many other festivals, the dahlia festival is completely free and not as crowded as I expected. Honestly, it was a nice change of pace to sit and admire the flowers and the farm without being bothered by people shoving and in my personal space to get a photo. Maybe not a lot of people know about this festival? Maybe it's a little too hot for people to go out and visit? I'm not sure, but it creates the perfect environment for a chill afternoon surrounded by flowers.

You can't pick your flowers by hand since it's an active farm, but you can buy bunches of dahlias for a pretty reasonable price. I bought a bunch for $10 and they last anywhere from 5-7 days.

It's definitely worth visiting if you're looking for something to do outside of the the Portland area or want to walk around the flower fields and take photos.
