Bane of Widuri tells you about seven orphaned girls named after 7 flowers; Kemboja, Mawar, Wisteria, Azalea, Iris, Cempaka and Melur. The girls are promised freedom once they turned sixteen, the world behind those gates of Widuri. Sitting behind the mansion, lies a forbidden garden that the headmistress, Madam Dahlia warned not to enter. The night before Kemboja 16th birthday, Melur decided to break the rules but her action changes everything. What are the truth behind this forbidden garden and is there truly freedom behind those gates?

My mind when I'm reading this - Rapunzel Tangled, healing incantation. I am obsessed and hooked with the plot, characters and everything! What a smart way of using flowers name as the characters and the plot twist definitely twisting my stomach. The book highlights important things in life like how greed will only causes sufferings.

The friendship between Melur and Wisteria had me bawling on the floor. Yes, I cried. Not only the book gives out creepy vibes but it makes me cry too. Nadiah Zakaria is such a phenomenal author and I'm definitely picking up her future books.
