my mistakes when learning driving + tips! 🚛🚍

welcome to part two of of getting my license during NS!

SO MUCH ❓‼️⁉️‼️❓ ya i know… so hear me out because my mistakes can potentially save you a few hundred dollars..

1️⃣ know what kind of license you want and stick with it!

— it’s important to know, decide and stick with your decision, be it getting a manual (class 3) or auto (class 3A) license. i changed my mind after applying, so i had to pay $21.40 to switch my license from class 3A to class 3. lucky for me i hadnt booked any lessons yet but imagine if i had spent money on lessons already before changing my license class 💸💸

2️⃣ download the TP test app

— this app is a real lifesaver! heard about it through a friend so i decided to study by using this app! you can take practice questions and mock tests on the app for both basic and final theory tests, and the questions are 90% similar to what is tested on the actual theory tests! i was very shocked myself when i sat for the tests and realised i knew the answer to everything HAHA🤓

3️⃣ plan ahead! and plan early!

— this mistake cost me quite abit of money! for some reason, in my mind, i felt that i had alot of time to take practical lessons before going for my final theory test and subsequently my practical test, but I WAS WRONG… by my 18/19th lesson, all my instructors were asking me when i had booked my final theory test for an i was alw like “uhh i havent book yet” and they would be like “HUH havent book faster book then can take test”.. so yes and it was awful hard to book because all the available slots very far away and i had to spend EVEN more money booking practical lessons so i dont lose my touch… and for practical lesson the slots were even harder to book. they were during weekday mornings and im an NS boy so.. i had to wait for a slot to open up during a weekend (which never happened btw). so when i saw a slot open up on the morning of my batam trip i just booked it and then took a whole day leave for that. scary experience. so rmb to book for lessons/ tests in advance so u dont lose out

4️⃣ remember to book lessons when the slots open

—depending on your class of license and type of membership, you would have different dates and timings to book lessons at a fixed time each month. so always be ready to book lessons because these slots go so quickly before you have time to think and book! be sure of your schedule (as much as possible because the slots open two months in advance) and book accordingly. that being said, do not be scared to book lessons! you have 18 free cancellations so use it!!!! cfm wont run out..

5️⃣ standard membership is fine

—for CDC, they offer standard/ one team/ elite team membership. according to on of my instructors, the normal membership is just as good as the others! bcos of a shortage of driving instructors, there really isnt much of a difference in terms of the number of instructors assigned to you based on membership. unless you really want that small difference, there really is not point in paying extra every lesson

6️⃣ make sure you have everything you need

—this is important!! know what prerequisites u need to apply or book certain things! for example, when i tried booking a slot for my practical test, the system didnt allow me to do so because i forgot to get my photo taken for my license! this delayed me for a few weeks because i was pretty busy and didnt have time to go down to get my photo taken
