Super Mario Bros Movie Review

This was one of my most anticipated films for this year (that list is long because 2023 did not come to play) and I went in with pretty low expectations. It’s clear that they wanted to make this as introductory as possible with the story yet appease the fandom by including tons of beloved characters, references, and easter eggs.

While I can overlook most issues with the story, I couldn’t get over the voice cast. Minus Jack Black, who is absolutely iconic as Bowser, it felt like they were cosplaying as these characters rather than embodying them and matching the personas that video game lovers know them for.
