Things I won't repeat in my next home

Living in this home for seven years has highlighted some renovation mistakes I made:

1. The shelving was installed too thinly for the long spans, causing it to curve and making me hesitant to place many items on it for fear of it breaking. Raised the issue to ID before, but he did not make any improvement on that.

2. The top-mount basin, while visually appealing, has been a maintenance headache. It requires daily washing and wiping to prevent mold around the base and struggles with water pooling that can’t be easily swiped down the sink.

3. The dark-colored solid surface was a cost-effective choice, but it has proven to be a hassle. Once the resin wore off, marks became very visible, making cleaning and maintenance quite tedious.

Careful planning and material selection during renovations are of utmost importance to avoid practical problems and ongoing maintenance issues.
