Mom’s Survival Guide: 3 Tips on Hiking w/ tweens 🌲

I took my tween daughter hiking…. ALONE 🫣 Full disclosure, I am NOT an outdoors girl, so this was a big step for me 🤗 Here’s 3 tips on how we survived our 2-hour trek through Coyote Hills Regional Park ❤️

Tip 1️⃣ - LET THEM LEAD THE WAY

I let my daughter pick from a list of regional parks near us to visit. She also chose the trail we were on. She picked Coyote Hills hoping she would get to see an actual Coyote 😅 SPOILER ALERT: We didn’t 😮‍💨

Tip 2️⃣ - BRING SNACKS AND A GOOD LIST

My daughter is a snack monster, so I made sure to load up our backpack to avoid having a hangry tween ☺️ We also have an ongoing playlist that we both add to on Apple Music. Random moments of dancing to our favorite songs once we reached milestones on that beautiful trail was 10/10 ✨

Tip 3️⃣ - TAKE BREAKS (AND SELFIES 📸)

Since hiking is new to me, we made sure to take plenty of breaks— especially with the warm weather. We also got some good selfies along the way 😉
