How to Take Great Photos as a Solo Traveler

A lot of people don’t want to travel by themselves because they’re afraid they won’t be able to capture any memories of their epic solo adventure. Let’s fix that!

1️⃣ Your Tripod is your bff.

Tripods are a MUST. Even if you’re just using your phone, get a phone tripod so you can set it up exactly how you like.

2️⃣ Two birds, one stone.

Take videos and live photos. Videos can be screenshotted into photos. Live Photos can be converted into videos. This is great if you’re short on time and don’t want to switch back and forth or don’t have enough time.

3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to ask a stranger!

Whether you want a photo in the ocean, on a moving boat, or somewhere insanely windy - you just can’t always use your tripod. Plus, there are some places where they aren’t allowed.

Try to find someone that speaks the same language as you and who looks like they know what they’re doing. I usually look for someone holding a professional camera or a girl around my age because there’s a good chance we have similar taste. Whether you ask someone else who is solo, a couple or a family, chances are they need someone to take a photo for them as well. It’s a great trade off!
