The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta needs to be on everyone’s bucket list! 🤩

Where? Albuquerque, New Mexico

When? 9 days every Fall in the beginning of October. This year, the festival runs from Oct 7 - Oct 15.

Since when? It all started back in 1972 when a small gathering of just 13 hot air balloons took flight in Albuquerque. Onlookers were so mesmerized that the Balloon Fiesta formally launched one year later in 1973.

Why? The International Balloon Fiesta is the largest event of its kind IN THE WORLD. It typically features over 500 hot air balloons participating in various events, including all shapes and sizes ranging from traditional globes to whimsical characters, animals & objects.

Extra tips

- Ask if you can go inside one the balloons while it’s being blown up! This is a really unique experience.

- If you want to ride in a hot air balloon during mass ascension, you have to book with Rainbow Ryders months in advance because this is a very popular activity, and they’re the only company that offers this experience.

- Give yourself an extra day or two for this festival in case the balloons don’t fly because they’re very weather dependent.
