🦀 We tried raw marinated crabs from Shopee

After my trip to Seoul, I started craving for raw marinated crabs 🦀 quite a bit. I was scrolling on Shopee and came across a listing that had 1.5k sales so I knew I had to try it!

I ended up getting one of each flavour for me and my boyfriend as he prefers the soy marinate while I like the spicy one. Delivery was super quick and only took 1.5 days! It arrived safely in a large styrofoam box.

Onto the actual flavour of the crabs - the spicy flavour was suuuper spicy. Like your mouth will burn spicy. This could be probably cause I don’t take spice that often, but out of all the times I’ve eaten yangnyeom gejang, this was definitely the most spicy one. My lips were on fire at the end of it lol. There was actually quite a generous amount of meat and it went pretty well with rice and seaweed. The spice is my only complain tbh.

Now onto the soy version: unfortunately due to the lighter flavour profile of the soy marinate, you could tell that the crabs weren’t fresh. There was a mucky and seawater taste to it and my bf didn’t enjoy it that much. I had a bite and didn’t enjoy it either. The soy version also had less crab even though its supposed to be the same amount 🤨

Overall, the spicy version fared better than the soy version as it was able to mask how unfresh the crabs actually were 😅 I don’t think I’ll reorder this as I can get it outside at a restaurant for around the same price point. No regrets buying it once to try out though!
