WHY MALAGA SHOULD BE ON YOUR SUMMER BUCKET LIST 🏖️🤳

When it comes to European summer destinations, Málaga in the south of Spain holds a special place in my heart. A charming beachside town, it’s also very tourist friendly with lots of dining options, and an ideal base for day trips to many southern Spanish destinations like Nerja, Ronda, Granada and Caminito del Ray. Here are some of my favourites spots in and around Málaga!

1. NERJA 🏖️

A municipality in Málaga, Nerja is a short bus ride away and home to sweeping cliff side beaches, caves to explore, and a traditional Spanish white village in Frigiliani. It’s great for a day trip out to lounge on the beach, take a dip, or simply explore nature.

2. ALHAMBRA, GRANADA 🌅

It’s called the “8th wonder of the world” for a reason! Alhambra, (and Granada by extension) is a popular spot in Spain because of its unique and well preserved arabic architecture. Alhambra is well known for its beautiful courtyards, gardens and palaces. There’s no shortage of spots that will make their way on your feed, and it’s breathtaking to say the least.

3. Málaga Old Town 🏰

When you’re needing a break from the day trips, Málaga is also worth exploring. The old town is well preserved with fairytale-esque cobble stone paths and moorish buildings that transport you back in time. My favourite spot would have to be Mirador De Gibralfaro, which gives you a birds eye view of the Gibralfaro castle and the city. When the streets are bathed in the golden hues of the sunset, and sound of buskers permeate through the chatter of tourists and locals alike, it truly feels like magic for a moment.
