How I avoid overspending when I’m shopping 🛍️

Growing up, I bought a lot of items and clothes that I thought were nice but that I didn’t necessarily love or see myself using/wearing often. I also bought a lot of clothes on sale that I thought were such a good deal but I didn’t actually love a lot.

Two main questions I now always ask myself whenever I'm shopping to prevent overspending:

1️⃣ “DO I LOVE THIS?”

When I’m deciding on whether to buy an item or a piece of clothing, I ask myself, “Do I LOVE this?” If I can confidently answer “I LOVE this”, then it’s a good sign that this piece is worth investing in and is something I’ll value for a really long time. If my answer is “Well, it’s pretty cute” or “I like it”, then it’s an indicator that I might get bored of it or not wear/use it as often as I think.

2️⃣ “WILL I USE/WEAR THIS OFTEN OR FOR A LONG TIME?”

I try to make sure I can see myself wearing or using an item very often or for a very long time. That way I don’t keep spending money on things that I forget about or that go out of style within a year.
