how to annotate romance books like a pro! 💌📖✨✍🏾

I recently got into annotating and tabbing my books. I used to be so anti-annotating because I felt like I could never do it perfectly enough or my lines weren’t perfectly straight or my doodles felt forced. I also thought it took a lot of time away from my actual reading.

But the beauty of annotating is that it is meant to be FUN! It’s deeply personal and no one can tell you what to annotate and no one is going fault you if it’s not perfect!

I only annotate romance books because I find the cute moments, and the funny moments, and even the sexy moments so much easier to identify. Here is how I started annotating and how I annotate to this day! Very simple and quick and easy!

materials 🖊️

- the main ones you will need are a pen, highlighter, and tabs

✨I get my tabs from amazon, any generic ones will do but I like to match mine to the book cover

✨I get my pens from Muji and my favorite highlighters are Mr. Pen and Zebra Midliners!

choose your topics ✅

- these are COMPLETELY up to you.

✨ I usually focus on things the FMC/MMC say

✨ cute stuff and funny stuff

✨ sometimes I will add a tab for “words I like” which is basically just quotes that resonate with me.

- literally highlight and tab anything that makes you:

✨ smile

✨ laugh

✨ blush

☆ fun fact:

- most tabs have a ruler on the side that you can use to make sure your lines are straight!!
