Christian’s can wear crop tops

100% disagree with this statement, but I have been told this many times from other Christians. That for me to be modest and bold in my faith I shouldn’t be showing my body off in that way. People have told me that in me wearing crop tops it doesn’t reflect well on my relationship with the Lord.

But truly I ask you how could a piece of clothing drive a wedge between me and the Lord? Clothing does not have that power, however my intentions with that piece of clothing do.

Modesty is a mindset and to be modest you must look at your intentions in all that you do, say, and wear. My body could be completely covered yet I could still be immodest. The power isn’t in the clothing it’s in our intentions.

When I wear crop tops, I wear them because they are comfortable, and they allow me to appreciate the body that God has given me. I struggle with body image and crop tops tend to help me appreciate the one part of my body that I believe is my biggest flaw.

My intentions in wearing a crop top are not to get attention for others and to show off my body for validation from others. However, in anything that I wear others can and will still look and have opinions on my body. Some will ogle my body in anything that I wear and that is for them to change not me.

I choose to wear them to find the joy the beauty in life and honestly sometimes for comfortability in the summer heat. I wear them at times to work on my body image and appreciate the body the Lord has given me, and none of those I feel are bad intentions.

If you feel the Lord is convicting, you not to wear a crop top that’s fine we all have our own convictions which again come back down to where our heart posture is. But to say all Christians should not wear crop tops I will say why do you give clothing power?
