Today my first born turned 13 months and looking back, everything really flew by too fast and he’s growing up too fast as well ☹️

My pregnancy journey was very smooth sailing, probably a dream pregnancy? (no symptoms, no stretch mark, no water retention and only 5kg weight gain). The reason why I did a pregnancy test was bc of my late period. My period was always on time, same date every month thus lateness of period means somewhere was wrong.

I remember I was in jb for a unit trip was I tested positive and we randomly just called the baby siamkia as counting back, we were having our mini honeymoon in Bangkok.

I went to a private clinic straight away and it cost a bomb every check up, ranging from $100+ - $300+ without the supplements. I only decided to switch over to subsidy when I was week 24/25 when the nurse asked me to choose the hospital for labour.

For me, it doesn’t make sense spending a bomb for labour where it’s just 2-3 days stay and I have to factor in cost if emergency csect were to involve as well. Most importantly I was perfectly fine not having my husband to stay over with me.

I was diagnosed with GDM during in my 30 weeks so I have to do diet control and testing of sugar level every single day. TBH, till date I still have no idea why as I’m not someone with sweet tooth.

Fast forward to week 39, due to GDM doctor advised me to induce my labour so we chose 28th March but little did we know, this little terror chose his own date by having my water bag broke on 26th March morning.

Looking back, I think I was really chill as I still went to back to lie down for a good 30 mins after my first pee with water gushing out. It was when water continue to gush out while lying down that was when I felt something was wrong.

I woke my husband up, slowly took my shower and had my breakfast before going over to the delivery suite. Iirc, my contraction only came at about 11.35am? And I told the nurse I want to have epidural straight since I was already 3cm dilated.

I had very back headache after having epidural and that’s when I felt the wait was too long as I can’t sleep at all. Being someone who can’t stand someone staying at somewhere being a pork lard, at 4pm and 4cm dilated, I asked my husband to head home to have a shower and his dinner before coming back to the hospital.

I was 8cm dilated when it was about 8pm so I thought okay maybe at about 10pm I will start pushing but no, nothing is progressing at about 10pm. It was really really a slow, long wait towards the end.

At 12am, doctor told me I was still at 8cm and suddenly at 1230am she told said to prepare to push as there’s visual on the head and he successfully came out on 27th March after quite a few push.

The only regret I had was not having skin time with him right after he was born as I was vomiting so badly from the epidural and shivering as well.

I only stopped vomiting 2 hours later and that’s when I finally get to go to my ward. Just when I thought I could finally rest, he was pushed to me 🫠

I’m not a pro latching mom, I know that even before I gave birth but I tried even though baby felt asleep every time I tried to latch him 😵‍💫 so I ended up asking the nurse to feed him fm cos they needed his urine sample and I couldn’t latch him well (given another chance, I would bring my pump/ rent one from them).

So happy 13 months old my first born. I’m sorry I couldn’t carry you anymore as you get heavier #momguilt and our family is definitely going through a big change at the end of the year with a promotion for you but do know that you are special and I will always love you 🩵
