faux pottery DIY 🤍

I love an easy DIY, especially when it’s affordable! here’s everything you’re going to need to create these minimalist faux pottery pieces:

-strong glue / adhesive

-sand paper

-cheap dishes (I used two bowls, one tall cup and one large serving bowl from target)

-spackle

-paint (optional)

-textured spray paint (optional)

first start by giving a rough sand to all of your dishes. this will help the glue work to its fullest potential as well as helping the spackle stick to the surface.

next, glue your dishes together to create unique “pottery” pieces. I glued the cup upside down to the bottom of the larger serving bowl and then glued two regular sized bowls together upside down so that my pieces were different heights.

then it’s time to spackle! I used drydex spackle because it starts pink and then turns creamy/white when it’s fully dry. you can thin your spackle with a small amount of water to make it easier to work with.

things get a little messy during this step, but it’s worth it! I found applying the spackle with my hands gave me the best results. spread it evenly over every surface until your pieces are fully covered.

once the spackle is dry you can leave them as is or add some paint. I used a textured spray paint and then touched up the edges with a similar color of acrylic paint. that’s it! simple, easy and the perfect shelf decor. ✨
