my pottery collection!!

i started doing some pottery painting with a friend last summer when i needed a distraction from life and (because i’m broke) i’ve “only” painted about 8 pieces over the last year but it does the trick in bringing me fleeting calm and happiness. that’s something art has always done for me. it’s quite therapeutic.

🌸cherry blossom bowl: this was the first piece i painted last summer. the piece that rekindled my love for pottery/painting. i use this piece for jewellery and random little things that don’t have a home.

🫐blueberry mug: this was the piece i created when i knew i’d be coming back often. i rarely use it just because i’m scared of breaking it when i’d need to wash it. i used to keep my few makeup products in it but now i just keep it safe in my kitchen cabinet.

🪻lavender cup: this one is still one of my absolute favourites! it’s almost tied with my latest piece as my favourite. something about the shape of it and the colour of the purple just scratches an itch in my brain. this one i keep empty and clean so i can just stare at it at all times.

🍊orange gingham bowl: this one is also one of my top favourites! i’m still quite pleased with how well the gingham pattern turned out along with the shading i attempted with the oranges.

🌿holly square bowl: this one i did around christmas time. it’s pretty but i always forget i have it lol. i put a bunch of crystals, a pearl necklace, and some butterfly earrings in it for aesthetic purposes and keep it on my windowsill.

🌼blueberry daisy mug: this is also one of my favourites!! it’s definitely tied with my gingham orange bowl for second favourite. i did this one end of winter because i couldn’t wait a moment longer for spring.

🌌porg bowl: this one i did on may 4th for a star wars event the art studio was having! i went with my sister and a friend and it was really fun. i’m honestly shocked with myself at how well my little porg turned out! i keep all my extra lego pieces in this one.

🍒cherry blossom bowl 2.0: this is my latest piece i did a couple weeks ago! this is definitely my favourite piece i’ve done! i did this one pretty much exactly a year after i did my first piece so i was like “hey let’s go full circle and do cherry blossoms again!” that and cherry blossoms are my favourite flower so.

🍄‍🟫honourable mentions: both are pinch pots from high school in 2018 and 2019. i was really bad with clay back then so i only kept a few. the green and magenta one is the first time i ever touched clay and i still really like it! i just use both of these pieces for random jewellery that i never wear anymore.
