8 things I have learned dating a firefighter 🔥

Background:

First Everyone is different this is just our story. Also, things I’ve found helpful to my relationship. My boyfriend is on a shift where he works for 48 hours and is off for 96 hours. So he is gone for 2 whole days and is home for 4 days. I work at a school so sometimes that doesn’t leave a lot of room to see each other.

8 things I’ve learned through this:

1. Spend as much QUALITY TIME together as possible. Me and my boyfriend love to be outdoors so we like to spend our time being active but we also like to chill and watch movies.

2. Giving him his space. I need to remind myself that he has been at work and on high alert for 48 hours. While I’ve been home able to decompress. When he comes home I give him his time and space so he can unwind.

3. Let him also choose what to do. This is hard for me because the past 2 days I’ve been doing what I want. And I want to make him do all the things I want to do. But it’s also important for him to share things he likes as well

4.Make memories in your home. I love doing this with him it creates memories and we are springing time together.

5. Let the little things go I need to remind my self of this a lot.

6. Be patient. He is rushing at work going calls. So when he’s at home he likes to slow things down.

7. In joy your alone time as well. I like to take the time when he’s at work to do all my girly things. Also pick up new hobbies.

8. Be silly together and let loose. Have fun together bring out your inner child. He also has to be so serious at work and it’s good for him to be silly.

I also want to say my relationship is not perfect. We do have our disagreements and that’s ok and normal. All that matters is you are both putting in effort to keep the relationship growing.
