Feel anxious today? Jesus did too.

I was getting ready for yesterday’s Good Friday service when I was hit with a wave of anxiety. Usually any pre-church anxiety will often result in me skipping out on that service.

As I sat with my anxiety I thought to myself — Jesus felt anxious today as well. As he sat in the garden he says “my soul is crushed with grief”.

Sometimes the weight of our feelings can be crushing and debilitating. But even in our suffering we are called to lean on the Lord in those moments, just as Jesus does. Jesus displays exactly what we are supposed to do in these moments. Pray, lean on the Lord, trust in His will.

There is comfort in knowing that our Savior understands how we feel. He knows how crushing your panic may be, he felt it too. Jesus felt the weight of anxiousness, but proceeded to do as He was called to anyways.

So I sat with my anxious feelings and reminded myself that Jesus felt this way once too, and anything I may be anxious over can’t compare to the weight of humanity’s sins that burdened Jesus. Jesus felt anxious too, but that was on Friday. Sunday is coming. You may be in a Friday season, but your Sunday is coming.

Sunday is always coming.
