Lately, there have been a LOT of things going on for me. It’s made it so my mind is so scattered and it’s been more difficult to focus fully. This has definitely hurt my mental health a bit and made me more anxious because I feel like I’m doing things slower, more poorly, and getting less done.

SO - to help me quiet my mind and focus better, here are some things I’ve been doing!

🤎 Listening to brown noise while I work.

Brown noise is sooo soothing and SUCH an effective way to drown out any external background noise! This really helps me hone in on my work and makes it feel like I’m in a vacuum. I love it when I need to do any type of writing work (vs work with numbers).

👟 Walking on my treadmill while I work.

Sitting all day honestly exhausts me and after lunch, I usually feel the brain fog set in. To combat this, I walk on my treadmill. Just being up and getting blood flowing helps so much with energy levels and maintaining better focus.

🍅 Using the Pomodoro technique!

For this, you set a timer for 25 min to focus on something without distractions and then take a 5 min break. I use this whenever I don’t want to do something. Telling myself I only need to focus on it for 25 min just helps me get started.

💧 Drinking enough water.

Staying hydrated is so key to focus! Dehydration can slow your cognitive abilities. I always try to keep my water bottle full and on my desk when I’m working.
