It’s been three years since I graduated college and I feel like I’ve grown a LOT since then. Looking back, there are definitely a few things I would have done differently. I think if I had done these things, it would have improved my relationships with others and mental health.
Here are some things I wish did in college:
⭐ Said yes to more events!
I only went to ONE of my sorority’s date nights all three years! They had them quarterly and I always bailed out bc I had an exam or something. In reality, I was most likely using the exam as an excuse to get out of asking someone to go. I also barely went to frat parties and opted to stay in quite a bit. College is such a unique time, being with so many people your age. I definitely wish I said yes to going out more and participating in more events.
👩🏽🤝👩🏼Was more ballsy in meeting people
Looking back, I definitely did NOT take advantage of meeting people. I always waited for people to talk to me or reach out to me. I was too scared of getting rejection and didn’t want to make the first move in any friendship! I wish I pushed myself to start convos with strangers and meet as many people as I could during that time. If I could go back, I would definitely try to befriend more people in my classes.
🗣️ Went to therapy
College me was honestly an emotional TRAINWRECK LOL. I really didn’t know how to handle my emotions and it didn’t help that I was in a long distance relationship. I wish I had started therapy in college so I could get to know myself better, earlier.
📚 Learned how to study
I wish I spent more time learning HOW to study efficiently. I honestly never got a method down and wasted a lot of time. I think if I learned how to study better I would have also made the most of my time outside of class. Academic stress is often why I said no to a lot of things.
