PART-TIME INTERNSHIPS? hmmm

Personally , I have done 2 part time internships and there are pros and cons to them! So for those of you deciding whether to take up that part time internship….READ THIS POST

🤍Pros

-𝓁𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝒸𝑜𝓂𝓂𝒾𝓉𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉

Compared to FT internships, PT internships usually require you to work only 2-3 times a week which means you can still go to school on the other days/spend time on other things!! Sometimes , depending on the company they may not require you to come to the office on all working days🤩 For me, I was only required to go to office once a week out of my three working days which I LOVE

- 𝐸𝒶𝓇𝓃 𝑒𝓍𝓉𝓇𝒶 𝓂𝑜𝓃𝑒𝓎

What’s not to love about earning extra pocket money?!! No explanation needed.

- 𝒢𝒶𝒾𝓃 𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅 𝑒𝓍𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒

Having a PT internship is still internship experience!! You can definitely add to this to your resume + pick up new skills at the same time😆 In this hustle culture, internship experience is v important so why not take up that PT internship that value adds to your resume🤣

🤍Cons

-𝐵𝑒𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓀

With an extra commitment on your plate , no doubt you need to be able to balance everything and mange your time well. After a day of intern you may be mentally and physically tired , maybe even too tired to do anything else. That being said, you may have to sacrifice time allocated to other things such as your hobbies/sleep/socialising because say reals you need rest too…. You are not a machine that can operate 24/7

-𝒟𝑜𝑒𝓈 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝑔𝒾𝓋𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓅𝑒𝓇𝓀𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝒶 𝐹𝒯 𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅

Compared to FT internships where it simulates an actual job (eg,normal working hours ,comprehensive experience), a PT internship may not be able to offer you as holistic of an experience as a FT internship. I think also since you “work” fewer days , you may hardly see your colleagues which in a way doesn’t allow you to socialise/get to know them better…. Furthermore, because of your lesser “working” days you may interact less with clients/colleagues/don’t pick up as much skills compared to FT which may make a PT internship seem “boring” especially if you are a people person.

✨Overall, you should weigh the pros and cons and ask yourself what is it you really want to get out of this internship and if you have the capacity to do so!
