how I decided to go to grad school 🩷

The choice to go to grad school is hard. The factors that play into it our different for every profession, field, and person but generally I think it comes down to finances, required for your chosen field, and passion.

For finances I was really fortunate. I applied for grants, but also all of the physics programs I applied to had built in TA jobs to help cover costs.

For my chosen field, almost all jobs require the PhD. Now a lot of people do something else outside the field after the degree, but so that I had options I wanted to go.

Lastly, I love physics. Genuinely I really enjoyed my classes and research and I wanted to do something that I loved, even if the school was going to be hard.
