Take it for the Portuguese girl herself these are the spots you don’t want to miss on the island of São Jorge.

🍍 Fajã das Almas: the entire island is made up of ‘fajãs’ which essentially are collapsed cliffs that have since created swimming areas for locals. This is one of the most desired fajã on the southern part of the island. Get there early as it fills up quickly!

🍍 The village of Velas: this is one of the largest and most active villages that locals travel to for shopping, the best bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants.

This is where you get the best souvenirs. 😉

🍍 Fajã de São Joao: if you’re looking for a safe place to dive into the water this is the place to go! The waters are very deep and crystal clear!! There’s is a small boating dock off the side so if you’re a resident people watcher like me you’re in luck!👏🏻

🍍 Ponta: this is the Eastern point of the island. The waves here are a bit more active so if you’re looking for a great swim or lots of passing fish for snorkeling / scuba diving this is the spot!
