HONEST Gel X Vs. Acrylic Opinion- Nail Tech

Okkkk so as a beginner nail tech who strictly does acrylic I’ll be the first one to tell you truth. Acrylic is not easy to do. Gel X can be done well by someone with very little experience but acrylic can not. So you are better off going to a beginner Gel X tech rather than a beginner acrylic tech. Done the right way acrylic is stronger than Gel X but done incorrectly it won’t be.

PRO ACRYLIC TECH > PRO GEL X TECH

BEGINNER ACRYLIC TECH < BEGINNER GEL X TECH

With a GOOD acrylic nail tech your sets should be lasting you 4 weeks MINIMUM no lifting no peeling. Another pro vs. con would be soakoffs and fills. Gel X will need to be soaked off every time you are ready for a new set whereas acrylics can be filled. This saved so much money if you are someone regularly getting your nails done.

I do wanna add this isn’t to say you shouldn’t support begginer nail techs, you definitely should! A beginner might do amazing art work but retention is only 2 weeks rather than 4. They usually have such good deals for that exact reason! You WANT to be a customer before she becomes a pro because we always remember the girlies that were there on our come up and you might just get discounts for life 🫶
