How to make friends as a solo traveler 🫶🏼

1. Stay at hostels

Hostels are the #1 way to meet new friends as a solo traveler. Here are my tips for them:

➡️ Join daily events & meals, spend time in the common areas & join free walking tours.

➡️ Filter reviews on the Hostelworld app by solo traveler to see what others have said about how they felt.

➡️ Book a dorm vs. a private room if you want to meet new people automatically. Always say hello to people in your room!

2. Use apps

There are so many apps to meet other solo travelers around the world, my favorites are:

Hostelworld: Book through this app to have access to a group chat of the other travelers in the hostel at the same time as you and well as other travelers in hostels in the area.

Going Solo: find travel buddies around the world through connecting to those with similar plans.

Trip BFF: connect with travelers to make trip plans with friends around the world.

Bumble BFF - dating app set to BFF version to find people around you.

3. Join Facebook groups

Facebook groups are a great way to meet other travelers. Travelers will post their travel plans or you could post your own and find people who will be in the same area! Please always use caution and be aware of catfish accounts!
