Did you know that you shouldn’t add any added salt to your baby’s food? Also, you should always look for no salt added or low sodium foods if using something that is packaged, such as peanut butter.
Why? Babies kidneys are still immature and developing so they cannot filter out salt like adults kidneys can. If they have too much salt in their diet, it can cause damage and long term health problems.
Babies only need 1 gram of salt per day, which they will get anyway from foods that naturally have salt in it as well as their milk.
For us, our baby always eats what we eat, so I never add salt to our food while it’s cooking. I’ll portion hers out once it’s done and then add pink Himalayan salt to my and my husband’s food if necessary.
Using other spices like oregano, thyme, garlic power, or cinnamon can help enhance flavors. If you’re using a recipe for your baby, always leave the salt out! #lemon8partner #blwtips #blwrecipes #blwideas #mealsforkids #babymeals #mealsfortoddlers #recipeideas #feedingtoddlers #babyhealth
