🦉: The Wintergardens is a complex of gardens located within the Auckland Domain. It is registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a historic place. The Wintergardens consists of two large glasshouses: one non-heated Temperate House and one Tropical House (heated to an average of 28 °C). In between the two glasshouses there is an ornate courtyard with several neoclassical statues and a sunken pond in the centre. Off to one side is the Fernery which is situated in a former scoria quarry in the side of the small volcanic cone named Pukekaroro.

👍Pros: This place is absolutely gorgeous! A social media backdrop gem! It is also a lovely spot to walkthrough and enjoy the calm & relaxing vibes found in the inner courtyard and Fernery.

The cafe is in a separate location and sits in front of a pond with a fountain.

🤔Cons: No “cons” just a general reminder that you won’t be the only ones wanting to capture 📸 the beauty of this place. In our opinion, it doesn’t hurt to be mindful of the space you take up and practice a respectful consciousness of others.

📒Tip: You should make time to walkthrough one of the different pathways that run through the park!! The Auckland Domain is Auckland's oldest park, and sits at 75 hectares, one of the largest in the city! Located in the central suburb of Grafton, the park contains all of the explosion crater and most of the surrounding tuff ring of the Pukekawa volcano.

😞 It was a shame that we didn’t have the time to walkthrough any of the pathways. They sure did look pretty as we drove through the park heading back to our lodgings!
