There are a bunch of 5 star dim sums in singapore, but which ones are truly worth the ⭐️?

The dim sum I’m introducing today is truly amazing! Firstly, the head chef is not only experienced in working in different hotels in Singapore, his dim sum stall(?) was also featured on the Michelin Gourmand List! Ok, to be fair, the Michelin stuff could sometimes be very hit or miss, but considering I’ve been revisiting this place at least 5x even though I don’t live in the area, it’s very telling how much I love it!

It’s nestled in Mei Ling Street (address in the video), and yes you will break out a sweat at a kopitiam, but this means that the prices of the dim sum is a lot more affordable compared to other famous dim sum places in other areas!

In general, the seafood here is fresh, and the oil also don’t taste stale or “reused” iykyk. These are some of my favs:

Fried salad prawn:

Fresh fresh fresh! The filling is packed with prawns and the crust is crispy without being overly jelak.

Fish porridge:

One of the better fish porridges I’ve had at these dim sum place. Initially, I felt the price was a little high for porridge, but turns out, it’s a pretty huge bowl with huge chunks of fish, and doesn’t have that fishy smell. Also, I just found out when ordering Grabfood that this bowl actually serves 2. The porridge itself is also smooth and nicely seasoned, I order this everytime I visit.

Fried radish cake:

This is amaaaaaaaaazing! As you can see, the inside of the radish cake has chunks of lup cheong and some other liao. The crust is really crispy, and the crisp can really last for a while without getting soggy. Slightly oily, but as someone who’s not a fan of radish cake, I just keep coming back for more!

Fried seafood roll in chee cheong fun:

Ok not too sure what the actual name is, but is basically chee cheong fun with the you char kway inside, but instead of the doughsticks, it uses like a fried seafood roll. It has like prawns, veg, mushrooms, and along with the sauce and the silky rice roll, yumz! It can get skightly jelak so this would be best for sharing, or maybe don’t order it with the radish cake. The other flavours are good too, if you’re not into seafood then try the char siew version. It’s nice and meaty, not like some places where they mince the meat to too small a piece.

Chicken chop ramen:

I love it! But promise me you’ll only eat it there and not for takeaway. The noodle is nice and springy, and the sauce tastes much better than the generic China style ramen. The chicken is well seasoned, without having too much of cumin (which I’m very not a fan of).

The chilli:

Just. Try. It. Not spicy at all but very nice.

The rest of the dishes are pretty standard, but still good.

- XLB: nice and soupy, just that it seems to always stick to the paper I gave up trying

- Char siew bao: as you can see from the vid, it has chunks of char siew, good for ppl that like that texture.

- Har gao: fresh lo.

- Siew mai: also fresh lo.

- Egg tarts: Not bad, cookie style crust.

And things I won’t order again:

- Chicken feet and braised pork ribs: too salty and I’ve tasted better.

- shredded duck roll: weird combi that doesnt work
