I tried the trending cinematic colour-grading 🎨

As a photographer and visual artist, experimenting with different art styles is a part of our journey. I remember how I was once obsessed with the extremely white and minimalist editing style. I would try my best to get rid of any jarring colours in my photos just so that everything looks clean. It’s nice but you tend to degrade a photo if you don’t digitally process it properly.

This trending cinematic film style is very much inspired by old Chinese films. It’s much greener and darker. It works best with photos of city neon lights. I did some tweaking to make it work better for my photography style.

There are many ways to achieve this look. I used Adobe Lightroom to edit these. The general sliders to look into are the temperate and tint sliders.

+ increase the green tints

+ adjust the colour temperate slide accordingly*

* every photo is unique and no preset/ filter is a one-click-for-all solution, especially to a badly taken photo.

Badly taken photos usually refer to noisy/ shaky/ blurry/ photos taken in an environment without proper lighting.
