Mood mushroom 🍄

Today we found a mushroom that turns from a bright yellow to a purple blue when it touches the air.

This mushroom is called a boletus pulverulentus. If you slice the mushroom in half vertically and the flesh turns a vid I’d blue quickly after cutting again, it should be avoided due to toxins.

These mushrooms can be found commonly under beech trees, lime sweet chestnut trees, or oak trees. Most are found in deciduous and mixed woodland but sometimes can be found in parkland. A great way to identify this shrooom is by its intense color change.

Boletus pulverulentus we’re first sighted and described by Wilhelmina Opatowski who was a German mycologist.
