HIDDEN GEM BOOKSHOP IN CHINATOWN ✨

Visited this hidden gem in Chinatown and BOY IT MIGHT BE YOUR ONLY AN OASIS OF CALM IN BUSTLING CHINATOWN (just like these two places: here and here!) I don’t know how these people do it, but the level of zen here juxtaposed against the bustling streets outside was.. stark, to say the least.

There were several people reading in the cozy nooks that they created around the shop — sofa seats, beanbags and chairs. Most of the books were in mandarin but there was an english corner (teeny one). BUT what I really love about this place is their absolute generosity!! They allow you to open new books in packaging for browsing and you don’t have to buy them. Prices are in RMB but there’re conversion rates - at the time of my visit you just had to pay 0.4 of the original RMB price!! Talk about #mindfulspending 👌🏼

I also really loved the interior — warm studio lighting + they give you paper and black tape to write your fav quotes or thoughts or encouragement to other bookshop goers, which immediately transforms the space into a shared one. DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!
