🍦creamier x Tong Heng🍦

First up — egg tart ice cream. Conceptually this was a BRILLIANT idea. I was imagining the fusion of the richness in that egg tart shell, and the creaminess of the egg curd in a single scoop. Just a bit sad to say that the beauty existed only in my imagination. This ice cream turned out to be really light and icy, aka nothing like my expectations. The egg tart shell provided some texture to the ice cream but I don’t think it did very much beyond that.. BUT, I would still say to give it a try bc it’s a limited edition menu after all + support local (& local creative juices) for national day!! Though perhaps one try is enough.

🍩 mister donut x Ya Kun 🍩

I thought this was a REALLY SMART COLLAB between mister donut and Ya Kun because who doesn’t like an old brand name and also, how many tired souls has Mr Ya Kun and his offspring / staff saved from boring textbooks and jobs? (Although, open call for Ya Kun to stop being so expensive 🥲 unless this cost is going into the paychecks of your staff)

Nuff #storytime — let’s talk about the pon de ring. I love pon de rings. I love the feeling of biting off ball by ball and tasting the glaze atop the soft chewy mochi. For this… well I would say it is a great picnic addition for your national day picnic for the novelty, but it can be hard to say I will keep coming back for more.

The coffee taste was strong but it felt kinda like a 3-in-1 with all that milk / sugar in it. You can tell they tried to bring out the bitterness of the kopi more by adding some coffee grounds into the glaze but those bits ended up too bitter in contrast to the sweet 3-in-1 glaze so my mouth got a little confused. Nevertheless, mister donut’s consistency with the pon de ring texture (no matter the glaze) was 👌🏼

Although, I very much miss the Morihan matcha collab — can we bring that back please?
