ABOUT ME:
👧🏻 I started snowboarding on family holiday trips about 10+ years ago, after being influenced by my mother (she started learning how to snowboard at 50 years old!!) I only did casual boarding a few days each for 2/3 seasons before 5 years of non-boarding.
👧🏻 finally went on a trip on jan 2023 and it reminded me of how much i loved snowboarding. 👧🏻 got more serious about it, went on 2 more trips recently and finally decided to invest in a pair of snowboarding boots (end of season sale in asakusa, tokyo)
👧🏻 considering going for a snowboarding instructor course atm
SNOWBOARDING:
🏂 can be a bit of a struggle to learn at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll get hooked.
🏂 it’s def an expensive sport, which also requires you to fly overseas. if you budget well, you could spend < SGD$2K on a week of snowboarding in Japan.
🏂 also it’s definitely cooler than skiing (and safer)
RECENT TRIPS:
✈️ Niseko, Jan 2023 (self-organised)
✈️ Aomori, Jan 2024 (The Ride Side Intermediate Camp)
✈️ Niseko, Mar 2024 (Sotravel)
RECCOMENDATIONS:
🙌🏻 for first-timers / beginners / those with no friends,
I would definitely reccomend you to join one of the trips hosted by The Ride Side or Sotravel.
they handle everything from accommodations, to rentals and lesson bookings, which might be a little overwhelming for first-timers.
ps. I highly reccommend butt pads and knee pads to everyone, regardless of skill level.
🙌🏻 for intermediates / those with snowboarding friends,
you could also join the trips hosted The Ride Side or Sotravel, or organise a trip on your own. honestly both kind of trips have their own pros and cons, mostly depends on what you prefer!
I could honestly talk ALL day about snowboarding, but i’ll leave that to another post 🐒
