In my opinion, Fall is the best time to explore the Great Smoky Mountains . With the fall foliage amidst the backdrop of mountains, there’s beauty everywhere you turn. There are a number of places to choose as your homebase (Asheville, North Carolina; Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; and Gatlinburg, Tennessee are some of the most popular places).
