Hello Lemon8!

My name is Risa I’m 18 years old and I live in the deathly hot state of Arizona! 😂 I was born and raised here from the ages of 2 to 12 years old, my family and I moved to South Texas when I was 2 and we moved back to Arizona when I was 12. Ever since then I went to high school, met some of my best friends here, and graduated high school! 🤩 Now that high school is over I decided not to go to college because school just wasn't for me, instead I decided to follow in my mom's footsteps and become a flight attendant! Now keep in mind I’m not yet a flight attendant I will keep y’all updated with what happens, I’m in the waiting stages of being a flight attendant 😓 but in the meantime I work as a server at a local sports bar that is in my neighborhood! 😁 My dream has always been to own a beauty salon, I knew from a young age that I was good with hair, makeup, nails all that fun stuff. But I never knew if I wanted to pursue that as a career. It wasn't until earlier this summer I was having a conversation with some of my best friends and that was when the idea of having my beauty salon came to me. For a long time, I had struggled with how I wanted to grow and serve Jesus, I knew I wanted to bring light into a community that needed more light and positivity. I had been on social media and knew of the toxic beauty standards that appear on every social media platform, and I was getting annoyed and irritated by it. Seeing all these beautiful women, young women comparing themselves, wishing they could be someone they weren't, made my heart break for them. I kept thinking to myself, “These women have been told almost their whole lives that they weren't pretty enough or they're not smart enough so they need to change something about themselves, what is wrong with the body you were born with? What is wrong with the hair type that grows from your scalp? What is it about any of these physical features that are considered wrong or considered “not good enough?”’

I had struggled for a long time to accept who I was and what I looked like, it took time but it got me to a place where I love what I look like. I love my natural hair, my body type, my skin type, everything that makes Risa, Risa. I want to be able to do that for everyone else, I want to be able to help other women out there get to a point where they love who they are and who God created them to be. Because there is no better artist, no better creator than God the Father. I know that I wrote a lot but if you have made it this far thank you so much for taking this time to get to know me and what my dreams are for this world.
