Event Flight SOPs:

1. Verify Part 107 certification currency

2. Confirm or complete FAA refresher certifications

3. Maintain offline access to all certain/docs

4. Use AirControl or other LAANC system to plan

5. Use exploratory LAANC info to plan location / altitude

6. Develop LAANC req list with Locs / Alts / Time / Dur

7. Update / Notify insurance of scheduled operations

8. Contact FAA >90 days before waivers are needed (op)

9. Provide detailed Op plans, air space, time, safety

10. Review and maintain currency on all NOTAMs

11. Communicate RPIC command hierarchy

12. Designate VLOS and Ground assistant

13. Remain reachable by ATC/FAA by phone at all times

14. Abide safe flying standards, heed traffic notifications

15. Have fun.

This is just a recap of the things that go into a commercial drone flight just getting off the ground. Not included are the actual shooting plans, scenes and framing. It’s a lot of fun to work on these projects but I sometimes regret when the FAA work takes precedent over the creative side. But one does not exist without the other.
