If you are still looking for a year end getaway, then you might want to consider going to Chiangmai in November for the annual Yipeng Lantern Festival.

Sharing my experience when I attended last year on 8 Nov 2022 💫

All ticket classes includes round trip between Venue & Maya shopping centre. Two lanterns to release and buffet dinner. We went for the premium ticket and paid US$170/pax last year. Checking the price this year, I think there’s a small hike.

Imo, the VIP ticket would be better bcos we felt that the premium ticket is too near to the stage and doesn’t capture the entire lanterns release that well.

Another tip which we wanted to share is to NOT rush into putting up the lanterns. Take your photos & videos first before trying to light up your lanterns. The fireworks display is also within the first few minutes after the countdown. Soak yourself in the festive celebratory vibes a little before lighting the lanterns — which is honestly not as easy as it seems (due to wind conditions). Many lanterns caught fire and just be extra careful of the surroundings to prevent your clothes from catching fire too.

Also, be prepared that the boarding of the transport going to the event and heading back can be pretty hectic.

Highly recommend this festival bcos this is truly a once in a life time kind of experience. Different from the usual 十份放天灯 in Taiwan which I’ve also went before.
