reformer pilates class for FREE?? 😮🧘🏻‍♀️

I chanced upon a free reformer pilates trial with Virgin Active via Instagram Ads and here’s my experience!

✍🏼 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 & 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬

Signing up via the ad function on IG (or you can do so on their website!) was fuss-free and I was contacted by one of their staff the next day to discuss the type of class I wanted to try. He then proceeded to book me in for a class - I just had to turn up on the day itself + bring my own grip socks 🧦 (as with all reformer pilates classes)!

☁️ 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟

Upon arrival, I had to register my details via an iPad and was issued a temporary pass. I also had to pass them any card that I had (doesn’t have to have your name on it, can be any random card - just don’t pass credit card!!! 😵‍💫) for them to hold it, probably because I’m on trial and not a member yet. I just had to return my temporary pass in exchange for my card before I leave the studio. Anyway, back to the temporary pass that I was issued, I had to exchange that for a digital bracelet, which is meant for the locker access, at the towel collection area. Apparently, you can ask for clothes also but I’m not sure if it’s chargeable 😂

🚿 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞

I was at the Tanjong Pagar outlet and their facilities were pretty extensive. Apart from the yoga/pilates studios and gym space, they had nap pods 😴, showers, toilets, locker rooms, and a shared space with tables and chairs for people to chill or work. We could also refill water bottles and buy drinks/snacks. There’s also deodorant, cotton pads, etc provided in the female locker room! The locker room was definitely spacious. However, to use the shoe locker, you need to pay an additional amount so I just used the shoe storage right outside the Reformer Pilates studio instead 😀

🧘🏻‍♀️ 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 & 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬

The class was quite big, with definitely more than 20 reformers. The space was really clean and bright, and the view from the studio was definitely a plus point! I attended the Align class which is a level higher than beginners. The class utilised the straps and the ball, which really made us feel the burn 🔥🔥 The instructor was also very energetic! However, I felt that the class was a little rushed. There wasn’t much time in between poses to properly transition, in comparison to other reformer pilates studios that I have been to!

😮 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

For a free trial, it was alright! There was also no hard sell at all by the staff which was honestly great - It was more of a “if you want to learn more about the membership, let us know!” 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Since it was such a huge space, I wasn’t really surprised by the kind of the facilities, although the shared lounge was a bit smaller than I expected for their scale of services. However, the walk between the locker room and the toilet is further than the usual studios that I go to, so I personally felt a slight inconvenience walking back and forth. Also felt a little weird having to exchange passes for the digital bracelet (felt like having lockers with passcodes were sufficient to eliminate this “extra” step) 😅 Location-wise, it’s right at Guoco Tower, so it’s super convenient for those who work there or nearby. That said, there’s just one lift so at peak hours, there may be queues for the lift.
