Tried hot yoga at Yoga Movement earlier this year and never looked back!! Since then, Iโve tried 3 of their slower paced hot classes - Hot Zen, Hot Basics, & Hot Slow Flow ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ
The rooms for YMโs hot classes are said to be heated to approximately 34-36 degrees celsius. You can feel the HEAT upon entering the studio ๐ฅต
Hereโs my experience with the 3 different hot classes:

This is my favourite hot class at YM because the poses/stretches are either held while seated or lying down on the yoga mat. Most of the classes that Iโve been to use props such as blocks and straps to enhance your mobility and release tension in your muscles. Itโs a super relaxing class and poses are held slightly longer (usually 3-5 minutes) for you to focus on your breath as well. As its name suggests, itโs super zen ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ So I typically attend this class on Sundays to recenter before the new work week or after work to unwind. But as poses are held in such a heated room, you can expect to sweat quite a bit even if poses are simple ๐ฆ. Depending on the instructor, you may be focused on stretching different parts of your body - some may focus on opening up the chest and shoulder area while others may want to focus on opening up the hips. I attended this class at both the Serangoon Garden & Novena studios and felt that the latterโs hot zen wasnโt too hot - didnโt much sweat! I heard that Serangoon Gardenโs studio is the hotter than the others!

Compared to Hot Zen, a Hot Basics class is slightly faster in pace and has more standing poses. You still get to stretch but the movements are a bit more controlled ๐ฎโ๐จ While I got a good sweat, I didnโt really enjoy the process of the class that I attended. There were a lot of downward-facing dog poses which are typically fine but because the poses were held for a few minutes, the blood was rushing to my head ๐คฏand it no longer felt relaxing haha. I struggled during this class and was missing my Hot Zen haha. Itโs suitable for those who want a bit more movement and less mat work but I personally prefer more seated or lying down poses so this class wasnโt it for me โน๏ธ

The Hot Slow Flow class is slow in comparison to some of their other classes but NOT slow if youโre used to Hot Zen like me haha. 99% of the poses are standing poses while the remaining 1% are poses that eventually transition into a standing pose haha. The poses help you build strength and improve your balance. Itโs definitely one that works your arm and leg muscles, as well as your core. It was quite fun, to be honest. The instructor gave us some time to towel down and drink up ๐ง in between some of the tougher poses and would open the windows (Serangoon Garden studio) briefly in between poses for the relatively cooler wind to enter the heated room which everyone was so thankful for hahaha. Highly recommend to bring a sweat towel because you will be sweating buckets in this class ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅต
If youโre still relatively new to yoga, I would recommend that you try the classes out at increasing levels of intensity! YM also has the same exact classes in non-heated rooms but would highly encourage you to try out a hot class at least once in your life hehe ๐คญ
YM has its own studio packages but I typically book my classes via Classpass for about 10-13 credits!
Fellow yogis - whatโs your favourite yoga class/studio?
