I have been working a 9-5 office job since I graduated college in 2021. For the first couple years, the burnout was tooo real. I dreaded going in to the office. Part of it was that it wasn’t my dream job. But, if you’re anything like me, you don’t really know what your dream job is. So in that case, it made sense for me to just stay at my current job while I figured my life out.

The number one tip that has decreased my burnout significantly is starting a passion project. In December of 2022, I started a YouTube channel. I’d wanted to for years and finally faced my fear. Not only has it given me an idea of what my dream job is (working for myself and doing YouTube full-time), but it has really helped me not feel as burnt out with my 9-5 job.

My biggest piece of advice for you if you’re hating your job is to find something you love that you can do on the side. Find a passion project. Now you have something to look forward to after work in the evenings. You’ll also have something you’re striving towards. This has helped me so much and I no longer feel the feelings of hopelessness that my job gave me before.
