My baby is 1 🥹

A year ago, we had no idea what was awaiting us 😂 Had the most expensive staycation of our lives in MENH and this boy was born!

Ways we celebrated the anniversary of me pushing a 3.26kg human out in a budget friendly way because, let's be real. Having a kid is costly in SG 😂

1. Birthday party!!

We did not have a 满月 party back then as he was too small, and we did not want to expose him to too many people and germs. So of course we wanted to do a 1 year old party!! It is so much better as he can walk around and enjoy it as well. We had about 30 pax total over at our place.

✨Cost of party ✨

Catering for 30 pax - $590 (kindly sponsored by my dad. Food was good! 6 courses + 1 dessert + 1 drink)

Cake - $180 (3kg was too much, shld have gotten 2)

Decorations - $20 (my favourite piece of deco is the banner with his face customised!! so cutesss I think I have to keep it forever)

抓周set - $15 (rented from carousell)

2. Gifts for his classmates in infant care

I racked my brain for super long thinking about what to get, as he has received many presents as well. In the end, we got them these LCD writing tablets, hehe, and labelled them with each kid's names using my own label printer. Gosh, the peer pressure to get gifts 😂

3. Celebrating my 1 year of motherhood

I took a day off work before his birthday to reward myself 😂

- went shopping

- did a pedicure

- donated blood (Random, but I thought it would be nice to donate on this occasion. Baby and I are also of the same blood group, isit more meaningful 😅)

4. Received his $1500 baby bonus from the govt for hitting the 1y.o. milestone. This $$ will be put in his CDA to help with the $4000 dollar for dollar matching!

✨Reflections✨

Just like that, 1 year of parenthood flew by for us!

Now I really understand why people say the days are long, but the years are short.

When we just began this journey, it felt so daunting and scary. On the day of discharge, the nurses told us. "Once we're done changing the baby's clothes/diapers, we'll bring him to your room, and you may leave once ready." I remember walking out of the hospital feeling like we did something illegal. Are we really allowed to just bring this tiny human being home? 😂 felt like we stole something🤣

And now he's 1 already - walking around the house, babbling all the time, destroying our things 😂

Couldn't imagine life with him before pregnancy and now can't imagine life without him 🥹
