Crater Lake National Park in Oregon is incredible! It’s the deepest lake in the US and was formed by a volcano erupting. Here’s the best things to do in one day at Crater Lake:
⭐️ Take Cleetwood Cove Trail down to the shoreline
This is the only access point to the water’s edge! It’s a 2.1-mile roundtrip trail with 610 ft elevation gain. The way there is downhill, and the way back is all uphill, which can be a little challenging, but so worth it! It brings you down to a great place to swim and hang out.
⭐️Jump off the Cliff at Cleetwood Cove
While you’re down at Cleetwood Cove, you can’t miss the opportunity to jump off the cliff into the refreshing blue water! it’s easy to find the spot (there will almost certainly be other people there jumping off it). It’s about a 35-foot high jump.
⭐️Watchman Overlook
The Watchman Observation Station
There are several overlooks in Crater Lake National Park where you simply pull up & get out of your car and check out this view. This one is one of my favorites! It has a great view of Wizard Island.
⭐️Garfield Peak Hike
this is one of the more challenging hikes in the park, but it’s still do-able! If you’re feeling tired or short on time, you can just do part of it to get up higher, escape the crowds, and have some great views. The full trail is 3.5 miles round trip, with 1,076 ft of elevation gain. The trailhead starts right near Crater Lake Lodge.
⭐️Phantom Ship Overlook
This overlook involves a nice, short 0.85 mile roundtrip hike to get to (128 ft elevation gain, rated as easy). Once you get to the top, enjoy the view of the rock formation in the lake that looks like a ship!
