⚠️ Unpopular Opinion Warning: Overrated Nonfiction Books ⚠️

(1) The Art of Thinking Clearly By Rolf Dobelli

This was on everyone's read list and bestsellers in stores for months! It was everywhere. However, it's merely a collection of cognitive biases and decision making principles that while informative may not necessarily help readers in search of substantial insights or advices.

(2) The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F**k By Mark Manson

While catchy, the content often lacks depth and can be seen as common sense. Couldn't get past the second chapter with all the language. Gosh!

(3) The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up By Marie Kondo

I remember hearing an advice saying to only keep 30 books at most. Nah, that ain't happening, it doesn't spark joy because it makes my life miserable. Besides, she has already given up. Geez, talk about practice what you preach. (LOL)

(4) I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki By Baek Se-hee

The marketing for this certainly did not help this, though I am not even sure what to make of this book. Felt unfinished, a bunch of notes stitched together, lacking direction or anything useful other than its ability relate in a certain to some readers.

(5) Freakonomics By Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner

This was probably just supposed to be a 'fun' read on economics. Make no mistake, the topics were engaging and thought-provoking. However it tends to oversimplify complex social phenomena and its occasional reliance on controversial correlations without providing in-depth causal explanations.

Now, the opinions are my own and this is not meant to discourage you from reading them. It's essential to form your own opinions about these books as what one reader finds overrated, another may cherish.
