this Y2K hairlook got me SO MANY compliments! 🪐🎧🌸

i recently attended a Y2K themed party, so i decided that i’d take my look to the next level and attempt a Y2K inspired hair look!!

i adapted a bunch of inspiration from pinterest and tried to incorporate a few Y2K themed elements: mainly space buns, thin braids and butterfly clips!

i call this look 🌸FLORAL SPACEBUNS🪐!! and i’m proud to say this is probably the cutest thing i’ve every done to my hair!! it legit got lots of compliments about how it looked so good and i probably put in a lot of effort

BUT IT ACTUALLY TAKES LESS THAN 10 MINUTES! and you can easily do it too even if your hair is on the thicker or thinner side!

🎧🪐 What you will need

✿ 8x thin hair elastics

✿ 2x thick hair ties

✿ many flower shaped butterfly clips

✿ optional: U shaped bobby pins

✿ optional: hair curler/straightener

💿🌸 How to style the hair

1. Divide the top part your hair into 4 sections (the hair on top in a half up look) and leave some hair below untouched

2. the front two sections should be smaller than the back two sections

3. braid the front two sections into a thin braid on each side (option to french braid the top bit of the braid so it sticks closely to your head) secure braids with hair elastics

4. tie the back two sections into a high ponytail on each side with hair elastics

5. braid these back two sections, secure braids with hair elastics

6. coil the thicker braids of the back two sections into space buns, secure with hair ties and bobby pins if necessary!

7. loop the ends of the front thin braids around the buns to create hair loopies (like katara from avatar if u get the ref….) and secure with hair elastics

8. clip the claw clips along the braided hair loops ( or anywhere you’d like)!!

9. optional: curl the remaining hair at the bottom (this might take longer than 10 mins but it’s optional heh)

for those whose hair is on the thinner side, the braiding the ponytails before tying the buns will hopefully help give abit more structure! and for those with thicker hair y’all can just spam more bobby pins and hair ties to secure the buns!!

i think this is a super cute look that anyone can pull off, and would recommend if you have any y2k themed events or parties! or even if you wanna look cute in your day to day!!
